The public-private partnership is seen as a major catalyst for growth in Tippecanoe County and is considered a driving factor in the proposed $1.2 billion Purdue Innovation District, which was announced earlier this week.
In March, the project received final approval from Governor Mike Pence. The work involves overhauling the corridor that runs through Purdue University and into downtown West Lafayette. A joint board of city and Purdue officials is overseeing the project. The Plenary Roads State Street development team, comprised of Plenary Group USA Ltd., Rieth-Riley Construction Co. Inc., Janssen & Spaans Engineering Inc., and Shrewsberry & Associates LLC, is financing, designing and executing the plan. Once work is complete, it will maintain the pavement for 22 years.
The State Street Redevelopment is expected to be complete by the end of 2018.
