Subscribe NowThe Indiana Economic Development Corp. has confirmed reports that Canada-based Multimatic Inc. will invest $40 million to expand its Indiana operations. The auto parts supplier plans to open a 125,000 square-foot facility in New Haven, creating up to 180 jobs by the end of 2018.
The IEDC says renovations and pre-production preparations are underway at the facility, which is expected to begin operations later this year. The facility will produce advanced, high-strength steel components for vehicle body structures.
Multimatic currently has a facility in the DeKalb County city of Butler. Rick Nafziger, general manager of the new facility, says the company is pleased to expand manufacturing operations in Indiana.
"Multimatic chose to establish the factory in New Haven to be close to both its customer base and its existing facility in Butler, something that ensures ongoing production and technical support," said Rick Nafziger, general manager of the new facility. "Also important is the availability of well-trained engineering, technical and manufacturing talent, necessary to making the new plant a success."

The IEDC has offered Multimatic up to $1,275,000 in conditional tax credits and up to $150,000 in training grants. Additional hiring and training assistance will be provided through Northeast Indiana Works.
