The entrepreneurship educational program says the event featured 10 high school students pitching their business ideas to a panel of judges that included local business leaders.
Ben Weimer of Elkhart High School won the $2,000 grand prize for his exterior cleaning business, Aquamasters LLC.
Second place went to Ethan Kavanaugh of Concord High School for KEVO Shields, while third place was awarded to Hermosa Hospitality founder Lloyd Miller of Northridge High School.
“It’s an honor to be able to see these students become empowered to steer their ships of life by utilizing the entrepreneurship process,” Startup Moxie Elkhart County Executive Director Sarah Taylor said in written remarks. “They realize it doesn’t just apply to business; they grow confident, start to believe in themselves, and see failure as fuel instead of a final destination in any situation.”
