Sports Betting, Casino Bill Moves Forward

Subscribe NowA bill setting rules for legalized sports betting and paving the way for a new casino in Terre Haute has unanimously passed the Indiana Senate Public Policy Committee. SB552 is now set to go before the Senate Appropriations Committee next week.
The measure would put rules in place for Indiana casinos to offer sports betting, based on additional regulations put together by the Indiana Gaming Commission. Colts and IndyCar executives appeared at the statehouse to endorse the proposal. Leaders with IndyCar and the Indianapolis Colts were among those testifying in favor of the bill.
SB552 would also allow for two Gary casino licenses to move, with one going to Terre Haute. Several community leaders spoke out in favor of the bill, including Saint Mary-of-the-Woods President Dottie King, Terre Haute Mayor Duke Bennett and Convention and Visitors Bureau Executive Director David Patterson.
