Southwest Michigan engineering firm adds third Indiana location

Benton Harbor, Michigan-based Wightman opened its third Indiana office this month in Portage.
Wightman is an architecture, civil engineering and surveying company with other locations in South Bend and Plymouth. The Portage location at 2646 Hamstrom Road opened on Nov. 1 and is the company’s ninth location overall.
“Our new office in Portage marks the beginning of an exciting chapter as we open the doors to a space where innovation, collaboration, and success will flourish,” Wightman President Matt Davis said in a news release. “This strategic expansion allows us to better cater to the needs of our clients and supports Wightman’s commitment to help build stronger communities while providing a more convenient location for our team members and partners.”
Architect Scott Falk will lead the new Portage office, which comes as a part of a company strategy to expand across the Great Lakes region. Falk joined Wightman last year from the Portage-based firm, FLD Architects. Falk was an owner and principal at FLD Architects and brings 40 years of design experience to Wightman.
“It has been my long-time goal to offer full architecture and engineering services to the Northwest Indiana community,” Falk said in the news release. “The Wightman team brings a talented group of professionals dedicated to providing quality design to better the built environment.”
Wightman employs 170 people across its nine Indiana and Michigan locations. The company also offers planning, landscape architecture and interior design services.
“Opening this new architectural office is a significant milestone for Wightman,” Wightman’s Director of Arichtecture, Greg Monberg, said in the release. “We are thrilled to be a part of the Portage community and eager to provide our expertise in architecture, engineering, and land surveying, to our clients in the region.”
