Manufacturing Technology Inc. in South Bend is planning a $2.6 million expansion. The South Bend Tribune reports the move is expected to result about a dozen new jobs.

The project involves moving MTI’s contract welding business to a larger space. The company will maintain its current facility, which houses its machine assembly business. That site will be renovated as well.

The new site spans 14 acres. Co-owner and Chief Technology Officer Dan Adams tells the publication that it gives the company room to expand if needed.

In addition to the new positions, MTI says the move will retain 25 full-time jobs. The company provides friction welding services to the aerospace industry.
