The project also includes the addition of 40,000 square feet of gaming space.
The hotel was first announced in September 2019, but it faced delays because of the pandemic.
The Michigan-based tribe received approval for Class III gaming this summer, allowing to operate Las Vegas-style gambling. The tribe says the additional gaming space will be completed before the hotel.
The 23-story hotel will be second tallest building in South Bend and with more than 300 rooms, it will be the largest hotel, surpassing the Doubletree Hotel’s downtown location, which has 291 rooms.
