South Bend Hospital Partners With Cigna

Subscribe NowMemorial Hospital in South Bend has entered into a multi-year contract adding the hospital and its physicians to Cigna Corp.’s (NYSE: CI) network. The agreement covers people who receive services from Memorial Hospital at the in-network benefit level.
Cigna says its customers will have access to inpatient and outpatient care, pediatric care and childbirth classes. The agreement became effective October 1.
Diane Maas is vice president of managed care and business development for Beacon Health System, the parent company of Memorial Hospital She says the relationship with Cigna "strengthens the health care community in Indiana and provides a valuable benefit to those who are interested in using our services, but have been unable to do so."
Earlier this year, Cigna was acquired by Indianapolis-based Anthem Inc. (NYSE: ANTM) in a $54 billion deal. Anthem Chief Executive Officer Joe Swedish will lead the combined company. The deal is expected to close in the second half of 2016.
