Previously located along a cinderblock wall that now houses a new Gate 4, the relocated and upgraded space provides a fully ADA-accessible spot for travelers to work or simply wait, with power outlets at each seat, airport management said in a release.
The business center is available to every person who flies through SBN at no cost. Passengers also get a clear view of almost every gate, airport CEO Mike Daigle said.
“The airport is the first and last impression of a community,” Daigle said. “As we grow, we continue to look at the entire passenger journey from curb to gate. The new business center sponsored by Notre Dame Federal Credit Union offers a more comfortable setting.”
The business center took approximately five months to complete and is one part of a larger project to upgrade the airport. Other improvements that were part of the $3 million project include adding a jet bridge to a previously inoperable Gate 4, modifications to Gate 8 and other areas of the terminal. The project received Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and Airport Improvement Program funds.
Breeze Airways launched nonstop flights to Washington D.C. from South Bend this month and plans to launch another nonstop route to Fort Myers, Florida in February.
