Our partners at WEHT-TV report the city’s Board of Public Works recently voted to advertise bids on the land and will hear bids at its February meeting.
The highest bid currently sits with the Indiana Municipal Power Agency, or IMPA, to purchase some of the land in the Industrial Park in Troy, Mayor Chris Cail said, which is a deal that’s been in the works for months. The agency owns and operates two solar parks elsewhere in the county.
The city is waiting on an appraisal to move forward, Cail said.
Cail said there are several positives to come out of the sale, including a renewed tax base and new green energy.
“The land has been sitting unused for quite some time,” Cail told WEHT-TV. “I think this is probably the best use of the land at this point.”
