In a notice to the state, the nonprofit social services agency says the closure will leave nearly 70 employees out of work.
White’s says the closure is the result of its decision to suspend all services offered under its private secure program license at the Jasper County facility by August 31. The layoffs will occur in stages from July 31 to September 30. The action is expected to be permanent.
The organization says a few employees will remain to maintain the grounds and facilities at the location or "fulfill other necessary business duties." White’s has additional offices in Wabash, Columbus, Crown Point, Fort Wayne, Indianapolis and South Bend.
