BND Commercial LLC has filed a rezoning petition for the complex, which would sit on 32 acres near I-69 and Bass Road.
According to the petition, BND is seeking for the land to be rezoned for general commercial for use as an athletic field. It is currently zoned for business, technology and industrial use.
It is unclear how much BND plans to invest in the project, or when construction could begin. Inside INdiana Business reached out to the firm for more information but did not receive a response.
The Fort Wayne Journal Gazette reported the site was previously set for the new headquarters of Fort Wayne-based Ruoff Mortgage, which in 2022 decided to move into the former Swiss Re building instead.
Ruoff CEO Mark Music is the principal owner of the Fort Wayne Football Club, which currently plays at Bishop D’Arcy Stadium on the campus of the University of Saint Francis, though it was not specified that the team would move to the new complex.
BND Development Partner Todd Ramsey told the publication that the team would be an “awesome” tenant for the complex, but the venue would host soccer at all levels, as well as field hockey and potentially softball.
The Allen County Plan Commission has a public hearing on the rezoning request scheduled for April 11, with a vote expected the following week.
