Small Business Owners Grade Indiana’s Friendliness

Subscribe NowSan Francisco-based professional services website Thumbtack has released the results of its 2017 Small Business Friendliness Survey. The list ranks all 50 states and 80 cities based on criteria including licensing requirements, tax regulations, health and safety rules and labor and hiring regulations.
More than 13,000 small business owners throughout the country took part in the survey. Small business owners in Indiana gave the state a grade of A+ on the list, putting it 8th overall in the country. Among the list of cities, Indianapolis received a B+ grade, making it 29th overall.
In the individual categories, Indiana received A grades for ease of starting a business, health and safety, and employment, labor & hiring. The state’s worst grade is a C+ for training & networking programs.
Indianapolis receive an A+ for ease of starting a business and an A for ease of hiring. The city’s worst grade is a D+ for employment, labor & hiring.
The top ranked states are Wyoming, Delaware, and Idaho while the top ranked cities are Boise, Idaho, Worchester, Massachusetts and San Antonio, Texas. You can view the full list of grades and methodology by clicking here.
