The company said it will not open its mall properties on Thursday November 26, but they will reopen on Black Friday.
“In these challenging times, we made the decision that we will not open on Thanksgiving Day, instead allowing our associates to spend the holiday with their loved ones,” said David Simon, chairman, chief executive officer and president of Simon.
In recent years, many merchants have opened in the afternoon or evening on Thanksgiving to give shoppers a head start on Black Friday deals.
A growing list of retailers, including Walmart, Target, Home Depot, Best Buy, Kohl’s, and Dick’s Sporting Goods have already announced they will be closed on Thursday.
