The gift from the Tulsa, Oklahoma couple will establish the Larry and Judy Reiners Endowed Scholarship Fund.
Fund earnings will provide scholarships for six Trine undergraduate students each year, and are renewable for up to four years. Larry Reiners graduated from Tri-State College, now Trine University, in 1965 with a civil engineering degree. He spent over 50 years in engineering design, project management and construction management. Reiners joined the Board of Trustees in 2009.
"I have been blessed with a successful life and career thanks to the education I received from Tri-State College," Reiners said. "It’s a privilege to give back in order to allow future generations of Trine University students the opportunity to get the training and preparation they need to succeed, lead and serve."
The university dedicated the Reiners Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering after their $1.5 million gift in 2009. Another gift from the couple in 2015 helped build the Larry and Judy Reiners Residence Hall. They also supported the Thunder Ice Arena and MTI Center.
