Subscribe NowThe Indianapolis Zoological Society’s Board of Trustees has promoted Robert Shumaker to president & chief executive officer of the Indianapolis Zoological Society. He joined the zoo in 2010 and led the opening of the Simon Skjodt International Orangutan Center in 2014. Shumaker succeeds Mike Crowther who retired after 17 years as CEO.
Shumaker, an evolutionary biologist, is one of the world’s foremost experts on primate behavior. He holds a B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. from George Mason University.
