The award is given to a destination that everyone seems to be talking about within the organization. Organizers said Shipshewana has been at the top of that list in the last year.
“Visit Shipshewana welcomed members of our network throughout the year and quickly showed up on the radar of hundreds of people within MTN,” Sara Broers, co-owner of the Midwest Travel Network said. “The willingness and extra mile that Sonya Nash and her team took to make all of these visits happen, speaks volumes to Visit Shipshewana’s dedication to tourism.”
The Shipshewana/LaGrange County Convention & Visitors Bureau said the award is an incredible step forward and wonderful validation of all of the hard work of its employees and partners.
MTN brought about 150 people to the town of 850 residents for its annual conference held at the Blue Gate Garden Inn and the Farmstead Inn & Conference Center.
Attendees were treated to curated experiences at the Blue Gate Performing Arts Center, the Shipshewana Flea Market, Davis Mercantile and Cook’s Bison Ranch.
Organizers also credit the small business owners, tour guides, restauranteurs, Amish homemakers and craftspeople, who partnered with them to make the conference experience worthwhile.
The CVB had been working for the past year towards making the conference a success after winning the bid to host it in 2023.
“This could not have been accomplished without the availability of amazing local locations and experiences, as well as the input and collaboration of our partners,” Sonya Nash, CVB Executive director said. “It proves that with teamwork and Hoosier Hospitality, there’s nothing that can’t be accomplished. Shipshewana may be a small town, but it can do big things, and do them well.”
