Major Health Partners in Shelbyville is showcasing its new 350,000 square-foot Major Hospital near I-74. The project, which began in 2014, has an $89 million price tag.

It replaces the current, aged Major Hospital location, which is in downtown Shelbyville. The new facility is in Intelliplex Park. When the project was pitched, officials estimated $30 million would be needed to pay for improvements if it wanted to keep the old hospital going.

The new facility is the largest project in the health system’s history. It includes nearly 60 inpatient rooms, more than three dozen outpatient rooms and be home to 934 employees.
