The Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs has added the Tindall Property to its Indiana Shovel Ready Silver list.
Lieutenant Governor Sue Ellspermann, who also serves as the state’s Secretary of Rural Development, says the certification "illustrates the community’s commitment to provide capacity building solutions by making the site more attractive to locate or expand a business. We know that Shovel Ready sites provide a competitive advantage in attracting investment and jobs, particularly in our rural communities. Thanks to the fine work of many, Shelby County is poised for economic growth."
The program is designed to expedite development or business locations at multiple sites throughout Indiana.
The more than 185-acre tract near Shelbyville is divided by State Road 44 and is located just off an I-74 exit. The state says the property is suited for potential light industrial, food processing, logistical or manufacturing operations.
Shelby County Economic Development Corp. Executive Director Dan Theobald says "this is a day we have been looking forward to for 30 years. This property has been on our radar for development since the 1980s, and we very much appreciate the State of Indiana, City of Shelbyville, Shelby County, Duke Energy and the First Presbyterian Church for making this happen."
