They are included in the 2023 Disability Equality Index, which is curated by Disability:IN and the American Association of People with Disabilities.
The not-for-profit initiative seeks to develop business disability inclusion worldwide and created benchmarks for companies to achieve that goal.
Evansville-based Old National Bank, Cummins Inc. in Columbus, and Eli Lilly & Co., Simon Property Group and Elevance Health in Indianapolis made this year’s list.
The five companies each received a 100/100. Any business over 80% is considered a part of the “Best Places to Work for Disability Inclusion.”
“These top-scoring companies understand deeply that people with disabilities represent a tremendous source of talent and innovation for their workforce and market share for their brands, and they are trailblazers in our journey towards full disability inclusion in business,” said Maria Town, president and CEO of the American Association of People with Disabilities, in a news release.
The index measures culture and leadership, enterprise-wide access, employment practices (benefits, recruitment, employment, education, retention, advancement and accommodations), community engagement, supplier diversity and non-U.S. operations.
