The Kokomo Tribune reports Stellhorn Camping and RV Center has invested more than $1 million to renovate the former Kingsway Sports Academy in Kokomo with plans to add about a dozen jobs.
Owner Doug Stellhorn tells the publication the 22-acre location provides more opportunity for expansion of its trailer and RV offerings, including the addition of new brands.
“We wanted to have a bigger facility and do more with a lot more ground,” Stellhorn said. “We knew if we purchased the site, all we’d have to do is some major renovations and that would give us the dealership we needed.”
The company originally planned to invest about $180,000 in the project. However, Stellhorn tells the Tribune the renovations that were needed were much worse than anticipated.
Stellhorn says he has already hired seven employees, bringing his total staff to 15, with plans to add at least five more.
