INDIANAPOLIS – Rolls-Royce Corp. in Indianapolis has been awarded a $1.2 billion contract to continue its work on the engines for U.S. Navy’s V-22 Osprey military aircraft.

The Department of Defense says the contract provides “sustainment support,” which includes program management, integrated logistics support, sustaining engineering, maintenance, repair, reliability improvements, configuration management and site support.

The V-22 is a tiltrotor military aircraft with the ability to lift vertically like a helicopter but it can also takeoff and cruise like a turboprop aircraft.

Work will be performed in Indianapolis, Indiana, and other locations around the country. It’s expected to be completed in February 2025. 

The Naval Air Systems Command, Patuxent River, Maryland, is the contracting activity.
