(NYSE: ROK) says it will invest nearly $16.5 million into a new distribution and warehousing operation at the All Points at Anson Development near I-65 in the Boone County town. The move is expected to involve more than 230 jobs over the next five years.
The company says the 369,000 square-foot facility will be operated by Swiss logistics company Kuehne + Nagel and is slated to be up and running next spring. Current employees affected by the closings in Champaign and Memphis can apply for positions in central Indiana. Additional hiring is expected to begin in the coming weeks.
Rockwell Automation currently employs some 22,000 worldwide and Senior Vice President of Operations Robert Murphy says the new facility will be state-of-the-art and boost efficiency to meet demand.
The company has been offered up to $1.75 million by the Indiana Economic Development Corp. in conditional tax incentives. The IEDC says 40 companies have announced location or expansion plans in Boone County over the last five years involving some $719 million in investment and more than 5,200 new jobs.
