The funding, requested last month by Mayor Tom Henry, will support projects along the city’s riverfront.
The city says the initial works are expected to total $20 million. Additional funding could come from the private sector or the statewide Regional Cities Initiative.
The committee is made up of nine members selected by the mayor, the city council and the committee itself. The request now heads to the city council and is scheduled to be proposed November 22 and could receive a final vote December 13.
The mayor’s office says the first phase of construction could begin next year and be complete by 2018.
