The company says the deal for C.J. Boots Casket Co. Inc., which produces hardwood caskets, will diversify its multiple lines of business. Vandor has a funeral division what manufactures cloth-covered and wood veneer burial and cremation products.
In addition to its Starmark Cremation Products and Vision Casket brands, Vandor is also a casket component supplier for other companies. The company’s other lines include Reel Options, which produces industrial spools and Enviromold Plastics, which makes plastic products from reprocessed and reground plastics for the wire and cable, tubing, electrical, consumer and casket industries.
Gerald Davis says "when we decided to develop an improved ceremonial rental casket we knew we needed to look no further than Anderson, Indiana. As we’ve worked together over the years we’ve discovered that the C.J. Boots’ philosophy and mission aligned with our own core business values."
C.J. Boots President Chris Boots will keep his title and become a Vandor shareholder. He says the merger will result in the addition of new wood processing equipment at the Anderson facility, which will make it easier "to meet both projected new sales growth and provide same day Core Line and Craft Casket shipping. New equipment will allow C.J. Boots to better utilize existing floor space, increase productivity, reduce costs, speed up shipping, and so altogether better serve the funeral industry."
In 2011, Vandor Corp. announced a more than $2.7 million investment to grow its Starmark funeral services line.
