The Palladium-Item in Richmond reports production at the Matthews Aurora Funeral Solutions facility, which employs about 200, will end next year.
Parent company Matthews International (Nasdaq: MATW) spokesperson Mandy Dlugos tells the publication that the closing process will begin in 2019, with the plant closing by the end of next year. Production is set to move to a pair of other plants. She says the move will not impact the company’s metal stamping plant and distribution center in the Wayne County city.
The Palladium-Item says the company did not give a reason for the closure. The paper reports metal casket production will transfer to a plant in Aurora, Indiana and cremation casket production will move to a Pennsylvania facility.
