Restaurant Opening in Once-Abandoned Bus Station

A new BRU Burger restaurant, from Indianapolis-based Cunningham Restaurant Group, is now in the city’s former Greyhound bus station.
The building was originally constructed in 1939 and has undergone significant renovation in the last year, including a major facelift of its blue, enameled steel panels on the outside of the building and relighting the "running" greyhound sign.
The Art Modern-style facility was built in 1939 and was owned by the city before it was passed on to Indiana Landmarks in 2013. The organization was tasked with restoring the aging structure and finding a new tenant. President Marsh Davis says "we have a Bru Burger in the Massachusetts Avenue historic district in downtown Indianapolis, so I can say from experience that it’s a positive asset. The food, service, and ambience are terrific. You rarely find an empty table, and people don’t mind waiting – the burgers are worth it! I predict Bru Burger at the Greyhound will be similarly popular, and this is exactly the kind of attraction we wanted to create for downtown Evansville."
The ceremony Monday will involve Davis, Mayor Lloyd Winnecke and Cunningham Restaurant Group Chief Executive Officer Mike Cunningham.
