The new development, Clay Court, features 10 market rate homes on half-acre plots to help grow the availability of housing in the rural community.
Clay Court is one of eight similar housing developments under the umbrella of Thrive West Central’s Homes for the Future program, which incentivizes developers to build market rate housing in the region. The project totaled around $2.2 million, with close to $200,000 in matching READI funds.
“The Clay Court development is not just about new housing. It’s about building a future where our communities thrive,” said Josh Alsip, who represents Clay County on the Wabash River Regional Development Authority. “With the support of the READI program and Thrive West Central’s Homes for the Future initiative, we are addressing the critical need for sustainable and future-ready housing.”
In total, the Wabash RDA has received $30 million in READI dollars between the READI 1.0 and 2.0 rounds.
“Indiana’s READI program is accelerating quality of place assets and amenities in communities across the state, serving current and future Hoosiers in urban, suburban and rural neighborhoods alike,” said Gov. Eric Holcomb in a press release. “The availability of housing is a critical part of serving and supporting a growing population. The West Central region’s focus on new developments will benefit Hoosiers today and for years to come.”
