The new year means expanded gaming action at two Indiana racinos.

Harrah’s Hoosier Park in Anderson and Indiana Grand Racing and Casino in Shelbyville now allow table games – including blackjack, craps, and roulette – with live dealers. Since their opening in 2008, the operations have been limited to electronic games.

The racetrack affiliated casinos now join the other state-regulated casinos that offer table games. A wide-ranging gambling bill signed by Governor Eric Holcomb last May gave the horse racing casinos the ability to add gaming tables this year, instead of in 2021.

The same law included legalized sports betting and the construction of new casinos in Gary and Terre Haute.

Officials of Indiana Grand say they have more than 40 tables and Hoosier Park has nearly 30 tables that opened on New Year’s Day.

The Four Winds Casino in South Bend is still limited to only electronic games, but it is seeking permission to add gambling tables.
