McLaughlin, chief executive officer of Lawrenceburg-based United Community Bancorp and Greendale-based Sycamore Gas Co. President John Browner are seeking support from the county redevelopment commission for One Dearborn.
The Dearborn County Economic Development Initiative was dissolved in 2013. County Administrator Terri Randall has since become the primary point of contact for potential locations and expansions and she tells Eagle Country "the time has come" for a group focused on economic development.
The talk of beefing up economic development efforts comes as exploration of a potential fourth port in the state continues in Dearborn County. Last year, then-Governor Mike Pence called for the creation of another port to be "vigorously explored" and the former Tanners Creek coal power plant site in Lawrenceburg has been identified as the primary target.
Eagle Country reports financial support in the business community has already been lined up and the organization could be set up as early as June. Future discussions with local officials are expected to continue. You can read more by clicking here.
