The event, which runs through Wednesday, also features a keynote address from GE Transportation Chief Executive Officer Jamie Miller.
Miller, who speaks Wednesday, will discuss trends in transportation, including the "Industrial Internet," which he says is resulting in intelligent machines, workplace connectivity and advanced analytics. Purdue Joint Transportation Research Program Director Darcy Bullock says GE’s locomotives move around $600 billion in freight through Indiana each year.
Lafayette Mayor Tony Roswarski used the event to update the State Street project, which involves the overhaul of the corridor between downtown West Lafayette and Purdue University. The joint board overseeing the project has selected Plenary State Street as primary developer.
This year’s conference includes around 150 sessions and 300 speakers. Purdue Road School traces its roots to 1913, when the school held a conference to help county surveyors and city engineers develop and maintain Indiana roads. The university voted to make the event yearly in 1914, and renamed it Purdue Road School the next year.
