The label reflects “a substantive change in mission or student body,” the university said, and comes after the commission approved a third doctoral program for psychology late last year.
“Purdue Northwest’s recognition as a doctoral-granting institution is emblematic of the university’s reputation for offering high-quality academic programs,” Chancellor Kenneth Holford said in a news release. “Besides signifying a high mark of academic excellence, the expansion of applied doctoral programs at PNW helps meet needs that are important to our local communities.”
The institution offers Doctor of Nursing Practice, Doctor of Technology and Doctor of Psychology degree programs.
The nursing practice doctorate began in 2015 while the technology doctorate was launched in spring 2023. The psychology doctorate will introduce its new class next fall.
