Purdue Names Head of Polytechnic High School

He will lead the school, which is scheduled to open in downtown Indy in August 2017. Bess is the president and chief executive officer of Goodwill Education Initiatives in Indianapolis. Purdue Polytechnic High School is a STEM-focused school, Purdue President Mitch Daniels announced last June and the university received its charger from the city of Indianapolis in December. Bess will begin his new role July 5. Bess has spent the past 16 years with Goodwill Industries, originally serving as chief information officer. He landed his current role with Goodwill Education Initiatives in 2004. According to the school board of directors, a location for the high school is expected to be announced in the next few months.
