Bernie Engel led the ABE to several number one rankings for undergraduate and graduate programs over the last decade.
Engel joined the faculty in 1988 and was appointed department head of ABE in 2005, and undergraduate enrollment has nearly doubled and graduate enrollment increased 50-percent during his tenure. His research focuses on soil and water engineering, including water quality models used to address land use along watersheds.
He also led efforts to construct the new $80 million ABE building to be completed in December 2020.
