Purdue, IBRI Expand Partnership

Subscribe NowPurdue University and the Indiana Biosciences Research Institute in Indianapolis are growing their partnership. The two have signed a strategic alliance agreement that addresses internal and external funding, intellectual property rights, facilities and staff resource sharing.
Purdue says the agreement will allow for "seamless research interactions among researchers at both institutions." The university has already launched its first joint research project with the IBRI under the new agreement with more in the planning stages.
"Purdue has been a strong supporter and partner of the IBRI since its inception," said Suresh Garimella, executive vice president for research and partnerships at Purdue. "We applaud the public-private approach to promoting fundamental research in Indiana with a goal of applying that research to strengthen our life sciences industries. We look forward to the innovation and advanced technologies our partnership will create."
Additionally, IBRI Chief Executive Officer Rainer Fischer has been appointed as a Presidential Fellow in the life sciences at Purdue, as well as a research professor in the departments of Biological Sciences and Chemistry. His research program will be located in the Institute of Inflammation, Immunology and Infectious Disease, or PI4D, inside Purdue’s Discovery Park.
