The utility is seeking approval to raise water and sewer rates by more than 55% each.
Pleasantview Utilities, based in Connersville, submitted its applications for the rate increases in September. The utility last raised its base rates in 2014.
If approved, the utility’s water rate, based on 4,000 gallons used, would go up by nearly $18 to $48.88, according to the Indiana Office of Utility Consumer Counselor. The sewer rate, which is a flat monthly charge, would increase more than $23 to $65.78.
The OUCC said the utility is seeking this change using the Small Utility Filing Procedure, which is available to utilities with fewer than 8,000 customers, and is designed to reduce the expense and time involved with rate cases.
Pleasantview provides service to approximately 190 customers in Fayette County.
The IURC’s public hearing will take place Dec. 10 at 6 p.m.in the James E. Roberts Memorial Building at Roberts Park, located at 9 Park Road in Connersville.
The OUCC said those who wish to submit written comments can do so on its website by Dec. 11. The office plans to file its report on both rate cases the following day.
