Arizona-based Arevon Energy, Inc. and Virginia-based Bechtel will build the 190-megawatt solar project with Texas-based CenterPoint Energy distributing the energy generated.
The clean energy generated will serve 150,000 electric customers in southwest Indiana. It is estimated to add $1.2 million to the county’s GDP annually, according to Bechtel’s new release.
During construction, Bechtel will hire over 300 people locally to complete the project.
“We are thrilled to work with both Arevon and CenterPoint Energy to deliver a transformational renewable energy project to the people of Indiana,” said Scott Austin, Bechtel’s general manager of renewables & clean power. “We look forward to applying our more than 75 years of power plant delivery experience to this important project, as well as growing our long-term partnerships.”
The partners did not immediately disclose how much is being invested in the project, or when it is slated to begin. Inside INdiana Business has reached out to Bechtel for more information.
The investment is one of many solar and renewable energy projects springing up around the state, including the 152-megawatt Bellflower Solar farm in Henry and Rush counties, SolRiver Capital’s 10-megawatt project in Hendricks County and Mammoth Solar’s $1.5 billion solar farm in Starke and Pulaski Counties.
