Crop nutrient company Hello Nature in Anderson and North Manchester-based MPS Egg Farms announced plans last month to partner on a $50M Indiana-based specialty fertilizer manufacturing facility. Hello Nature Chief Executive Officer Luca Bonini joins AgriNovus Indiana CEO Mitch Frazier on this week’s episode of the Ag+Bio+Science podcast to talk about the company’s new venture.
“A few years ago, we decided to come to the United States. It was 2014. We were just starting to sell our products from Italy to the United States,” remembered Bonini. “And, frankly, we soon realized that we had to do more, the American market needed more from us a bigger commitment.”
That commitment includes partnering with MPS Egg Farms to construct a facility in Wabash to produce natural fertilizers and crop bionutrients. The 300,000-square-feet facility will employ nearly 50 people.
During the podcast, Bonini and Frazier discuss how bionutrients can factor into a farmer’s crop nutrition plans.
“Today the fertilizer industry undergoes multiple challenges such as rising prices, logistics issues and shortage of inputs, and there is a desperate need for innovative solutions to feed a growing population with less inputs and less land available,” said Bonini when the partnership was announced.
Hello Nature, which was renamed from Italpollina early last year, operates its North American headquarters and two facilities in Anderson.
“We are trying to complete our range of products, bring in new technologies, new products in the market, because we really want to be a leader in the American market. And when I’m talking about being a leader, we that means that we want to invest more, we want to grow even more that we are doing,” said Bonini.
