Catherine Braun and Yuning Tian have joined Plews Shadley Racher & Braun LLP as associates. Braun graduated magna cum laude from New York University with a Bachelor of Science in Media, Culture and Communication, and minors in Mandarin Chinese and Business of Entertainment, Media and Technology. In May 2021 she graduated from the University of Notre Dame Law School where she served as executive online editor for the Notre Dame Journal of International & Comparative Law, which recently published her Note, titled “The Art of Economic War: Cultural Property Import Tariffs as Foreign Policy”, Vol. 11: Iss. 2, Article 8. Catherine competed as an Oralist on the Notre Dame Moot Court Board’s American Bar Association team and served on the Notre Dame Real Estate Law Society’s Executive Board. Braun served as a research assistant to International Law Professor Mary Ellen O’Connell and interned during law school with senior vice president general counsel for The Sterling Group, a real estate investment services firm.

Yuning Tian graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Shenyang Ligong University in Shenyang, China where she was the recipient of the Excellent Student Leader Award. In May 2021 she graduated from Indiana University Maurer School of Law where she served as a Notes Editor for the Indiana Journal of Global Legal Studies and was awarded the Outstanding Editor award. Tian also served on the Executive Board of the Asian Pacific American Law Student Association and volunteered as a certified tax preparer for the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program. Prior to joining the firm, she was a certified legal intern with Indiana University Student Legal Services where she conducted intakes and advised clients on various legal disputes, including contract disputes, insurance settlements, small claims court litigation matters, and minor criminal charges. Tian also served as a legal intern in the legal department at Lumina Foundation where she worked closely with both Lumina’s internal legal department and outside counsel to support Lumina’s daily operations.
