The plans call for a 12,000-square-foot property that would include headquarters for a growing restaurant chain, a restaurant, retail and potentially residential space.
The city says Juan Segoviano, who owns La Catrina and Senor Iguanas restaurants, and Jeff Shireman, owner of Shireman Construction and Shireman Real Estate and Development, want to build the development on vacant property on Market Street.
The partners say the proposed complex would serve as headquarters for Segoviano’s five independent restaurant businesses. It would also include a first-floor restaurant with a patio and retail space. They say the second floor could be either additional office space or eight apartment units.
The city says the proposal was accepted by the redevelopment commission pending final legal review.
“We are honored to assist with his [Segoviano’s] expansion and help him grow his business, and to allow him to serve more people in our city and community,” said Mayor Jeff Gahan
The development was proposed for the old federal parking lot site. The partners say the project is expected to bring 30 temporary full-time employees during construction, as well as an additional 40 full-time employees after construction.
