The project is expected to break ground early next year and open in 2020. Chief Executive Officer Ashley Dickinson says the new facility is a major step forward in a commitment to creating a "thriving community hospital."
Details have not yet been finalized, but officials say the facility is expected to involve five stories and around 200,000 square-feet. "The site selection process was comprehensive," said Dickinson, "and we are confident that 1007 Lincolnway is the ideal location for us to be able to continue to provide high quality, compassionate acute care to the communities we serve. We expect to build a hospital that will keep the patient experience top of mind, so we will seek input from staff along the way to ensure workflow meets their needs for delivering safe, quality care."
The current hospital, which first opened 45 years ago, will stay operational during the new facility’s construction process. The decision to locate on the same property came after consideration of more than 20 potential sites over the last year.
