Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital Adds Chief of Pediatric Cardiovascular Surgery

Subscribe NowPeyton Manning Children’s Hospital at St. Vincent has appointed Anthony Azakie chief of pediatric cardiovascular surgery and medical director of its Congenital Heart Program. He earned his undergraduate and medical degrees at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Azakie completed his residencies and fellowships at the University of California San Francisco and University of Toronto and is certified by the American Board of Surgery.
Specializing in congenital cardiac surgery, he has spent the last 16 years teaching at various universities. Azakie most recently taught at the University of Minnesota where he also served as division chief of pediatric cardiac surgery, pediatric cardiothoracic surgeon and co-director of the Pediatric Heart Center at University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital.
He authored two books and currently contributes to several medical publications, including the Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery and World Society of Pediatric and Congenital Heart Surgery. Azakie has received multiple honors and awards for his research work, teaching and public service, most recently the Advancing Sciences Program by the American Heart Association.
