PeekMed launches US subsidiary in Warsaw

Subscribe NowPortugal-based orthopedic technology company PeekMed has announced its establishment of a formal subsidiary, PeekMed LLC, based in Warsaw. The company said the expansion is timed with the launch of its web platform that’s undergoing beta testing to hit the U.S. market.
PeekMed has developed an artificial intelligence-based pre-operative planning system for orthopedic surgery.
The company said in a news release the expansion will allow it to strengthen its presence in the health care market, provide support to American customers and grow partnerships and collaboration.
“The establishment of PeekMed LLC in the US signifies a pivotal moment in our journey,” Co-founder and CEO João Pedro Ribeiro said. “We are committed to leveraging our presence in the United States to foster innovation, drive research, and contribute to the advancement of orthopedics. All of this, together with this great community here in Warsaw.”
It is unclear how many employees the new subsidiary will have. A spokesperson declined to provide more information to Inside INdiana Business.
PeekMed Web will launch in the U.S. market after it receives clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The company said it will use AI and deep-learning technologies to automatically segment CT scans and X-rays, detect landmarks and create surgical plans.
Warsaw is known colloquially as the “Orthopedic Capital of the World” since several companies are based in the city, and it has been a hotbed for research and development in the industry.
