Build Your Future Indiana is a strategic partnership among the Indiana Builders Association, the Indiana Construction Roundtable Foundation and the Builders Association of Greater Indianapolis.
The IBA says the partnership aims to create awareness and resources to attract young workers to commercial, residential and road building industries. The state has reported an average of more than 3,000 annual job openings in the industry and is projecting there will be more than 30,000 construction trade jobs available by 2024.
"This collaborative effort aims to eliminate misconceptions about careers in this industry and emphasize that there are many paths that the next generation of potential workers can maximize in order to find success," says Steve Lains, chief executive officer of the Builders Association of Greater Indianapolis.
Building Your Future Indiana has launched a website providing information about various career paths in the construction and building trades, such as electrical, welding and masonry, among others. The partnership says it will also create programs designed to help young people understand the various ways to enter the industry as well.
