Pacers Sports & Entertainment and the Indiana Pacers have selected Cody Parrent as director of esports operations. He will oversee the franchise’s efforts in the inaugural NBA 2K esports league, which will launch in 2018.

The Pacers team is one of 17 from the NBA that will take part in the league, which was announced in May. Parrent, co-owner of Evansville-based market research and e-commerce firm Blue Commerce LLC, will report to Pacers Senior Vice President Kelly Krauskopf.

Parrent earned his bachelor’s degree in marketing and MBA from the University of Southern Indiana. Prior to co-founding Blue Commerce, Parrent served as an IMS business analyst at Evansville-based Berry Global Group Inc.
