Parrent will oversee the franchise’s efforts in the inaugural NBA 2K esports league, which will launch in 2018.
The Pacers team is one of 17 from the NBA that will take part in the league, which was announced in May. Parrent, co-owner of Evansville-based market research and e-commerce firm Blue Commerce LLC, will report to Pacers Senior Vice President Kelly Krauskopf.
"Cody brings solid competitive gaming experience in many eSports titles such as Halo, CS:GO, FIFA, and NBA 2K," Krauskopf said in a news release. "He has built numerous connections in the NBA 2K community through his background in developing the 2K Lab which focuses on analyzing data from the NBA 2K video game franchise in order to give players an edge over the competition. We are fortunate to have him leading our operation."
Parrent earned his bachelor’s degree in marketing and MBA from the University of Southern Indiana. Prior to co-founding Blue Commerce, Parrent served as an IMS business analyst at Evansville-based Berry Global Group Inc. (NYSE: BERY).
