Director of Corporate Communications Eddie White says the team has had its best year selling corporate sponsorships, and will turn a profit. Coming into this season, the team had led the league in sponsorships for three straight years. The Fever’s major corporate partners include Indianapolis-based The Finish Line Inc. (Nasdaq: FINL) and Community Health Network. The team hosts Minnesota tonight in game three of the WNBA Finals.
White says the Fever was one of the few WNBA teams which renewed its jersey sponsorship deal, especially with a global company like The Finish Line. He says attendance took a hit this season because the Fever had a down year, but believes late-season and playoff success will lead to fan growth next season.
The Fever began in the WNBA in 2000, and won the championship in 2012.
The Fever and Lynx are tied at one game apiece in the best-of-five series. Game three is tonight at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. Mayor Greg Ballard has proclaimed today "Fever Friday" in the city.
White says winning is a team’s best marketing tool.
