Ohio Manufacturer Expanding Into New Haven
The company manufactures built-to-order seating products for the health care market

Sauder Manufacturing Co., which makes build-to-order seating and casegood products for various markets, will invest more than $3 million and create up to 60 jobs by 2021.
Sauder, a subsidiary of Sauder Woodworking Co., plans to lease and equip a 165,000 square-foot facility in New Haven, which it says will more than double its production and office space. The company currently operates five facilities in Grabill, Indiana.
"The health care market is significant and growing part of our total business," said Phil Bontrager, chief executive officer of Sauder Manufacturing. "A series of successful new products have accelerated our company’s growth. The overall business climate and the availability of a capable pool of individuals make northeast Indiana an attractive business environment for us."
The Indiana Economic Development Corp. says Sauder will begin work on the new facility this summer and plans to begin operation by the end of the year. The company currently employs 123 full-time workers and will begin hiring for production positions at the new facility immediately.
The IEDC has offered Sauder up to $300,000 in performance-based, conditional tax credits and up to $60,000 in training grants.
