The orthopedic practice has been treating patients in northwest Indiana for more than 50 years, mostly in Porter County.
But the healthcare group says recent demand has caused expansion into neighboring counties so they decided to build a freestanding orthopedic facility.
"Currently, we have been renting the space from the Franciscan Point facility, and although they have been a great landlord and great partners with us, we have simply outgrown that space, which is why we’re here today," said Dr. Thomas Kay, president of Lakeshore Bone & Joint Institute.
The newspaper reports the facility will include multiple clinic suites, a pain intervention suite, an orthopedic urgent care, physical and occupational therapy suites, and MRI and X-ray imaging centers.
Construction is expected to be completed in early 2021, according to the publication.
