BAGI says November permits were up 3% over the same month in 2020.
In the nine-county area, permits totaled 714 last month.
“After three months of slower permit activity, the uptick in numbers aligns with the stronger demand we have seen in the homebuilding community,” said BAGI Chief Executive Officer Steve Lains. “Despite lumber tariffs, material pricing, supply chain delays, labor shortages and other issues, our builders’ confidence remains strong, and we expect to see this continued growth well into 2022.”
The organization, which represents home builders and remodelers, says central Indiana has seen a 22% increase year-over-year, with 9,583 permits in November compared to last year’s 7881.
Hancock County saw the largest jump with a 132% increase in building permits over November 2020.
